I did mention when I started that I’d discuss the course from time to time, but somehow that seems to have got slightly lost amongst cool videos and jokes about bummery. And rightly so. However, now is the time for a brief mention.

Everything I’m learning at the moment is AS-level (cell structure; alkanes and alkenes, covalent bonds; a dash of stats and some basic IT) and not the sort of stuff a bloke with 30 visitors a day can afford to inflict on his readers. When I get into genetics or island ecology I might start knocking together something a little more spicy. I can say, though, that I’m enjoying it immensely, have made my mother very proud by getting 94% in a chemistry exam, and have decided to expand my “why I wanna be a zoologist and not a journalist” theme from an earlier post into a presentation that they’re making me do in January.

I’d also like to thank the England cricket team for ensuring that I have slightly more free time than previously calculated.
